Evelyn’s House provides state-of-the-art palliative care in a comfortable and peaceful environment. One of the design challenges involved using artwork to hide medical equipment to create a comfortable environment for patients and their families.
Each of the rooms needed two pieces of art, which had to match. ARCH collaborated with the medical gas manufacturer to construct a custom solution to cover the units and still allow easy access to the equipment.
The artwork was secured from the backside and attached to the unit to obscure the equipment, yet could be lifted to allow access when needed. Materials were carefully chosen to ensure the mounting hardware would not be visible from the front and spacers were added to the other piece to match the protrusion of the piece covering the medical equipment. The result is a clean, consistent look to the head wall.
Evelyn’s House serves both adults and children, therefore a variety of images were selected to appeal to residents of all ages. Imagery includes puppies and nature images likely to spark fond memories.
